This was an educational experience.

Kaiser Permanente

Named a “Best Place To Work At” in 2019 by Glassdoor

They display themselves as a healthcare provider who offers high-quality healthcare for an affordable price. Their benefits are aplenty, offering 401k Pension, retirement, plenty of healthcare benefits, and much more. Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, is offering an internship as an Emergency Room Assistant. The timeframe is an open call, so I would have to be available any day/time of the week. This internship would be beneficial to me since not only would I gain experience in the Emergency room, It would also allow me to obtain a feel for the position I would like to have when I get my degree and first job. It involves taking vitals, ordering and managing charts, and being under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Although I would love to work as a NeoNatal Nurse, the internship would be a much more reasonable intro to the Kaiser Permanente environment. Overall, Kaiser Permanente offers a lot of internships with varying degrees of workload. Some are RN supervised while others involve being a receptionist or data analyst. Hopefully, I can apply to be a Neonatal Nurse at Kaiser Permanente.

Incredible Health

Incredible Health is “the new way” nurses get hired. They elaborate and express how employers come to you instead of having to scout for jobs. Location of job offers vary, but some open positions consist of needing a Neonatal Nurse working in the ICU. The Job pays $80,000 to $120,000 and possible locations consist of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Riverside. At first glance, I believe I could use their services to find a potential job after graduation from the BSN program at CSULB. In Summary, their model might be beneficial to me in the future, so I will apply once a graduate.

Ascension

As the name implies, the mission of Ascension is to provide a holistic healthcare experience while developing a comfortable relationship between the patient and the health provider. They not only recognize 8 holidays with acclaimed “generous paid time off,” but also offer tuition reimbursement. Ascension also offers internships, residency programs, and seminars for nurses in the making. They have a catalog with job openings that allow new nurse graduates possible career opportunities. Furthermore, Ascension currently has job openings for Neonatal ICU Nurses, so I could potentially apply in the future once I obtain my degree. In general, Ascension offers a calm, personal experience for patients while providing them with great healthcare.

Alexis Nicole

Alexis Nicole is a Registered Nurse who works in the Emergency Department. She has a youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/TheNurseNook) advising prospective and current med students. One piece of advice that she stated, was to not “sweat the small stuff.” Alexis is a perfectionist like me, so she exclaims to not worry if you cannot classify a medication from the top of your head. Overall, she presents herself as a down-to-earth nurse with a lot of helpful advice for those who are stressed like me.

Nouha Hassan

A self-acclaimed “Jack of All Trades,” Nouha Hassan is a Registered Nurse who currently works as a medical assistant. She not only possesses a BA in Psychology but a BSN as well. She offers a variety of advice like purchasing a planner to stay organized and forming bonds with fellow medical school students. Hassan also advises students to “stop and smell the roses.” As a first-time college student, time management, deadlines, and exams are stressful and I don’t believe I have time to stop and reboot myself. She acknowledged the stress involved with the nursing occupation but makes me feel like I will be fine. In summary, Nouha is a talented individual who proves career changes are possible and it’s never too late to pursue another occupation.

Rona Dadayan

Rona Dadayan is a Registered Nurse who worked her way up from the Telemetry floor up to the Trauma ICU unit. She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University with an Associates’ degree at first but returned to obtain a BSN while accumulating experience. Dadayan has a rather complex nursing journey, not passing her NCLEX exam the first time but explains that perseverance is key. She pushes the ideology that working hard is part of the job and even when you feel like giving up, you must persevere. Conclusively, she is a great role model and makes me understand that pushing through hard times brings you to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Conclusion

My website would advocate not only my education level, but also contain fresh internships, different career pathways, and advice for prospective Nursing students. At first, I was extremely nervous because I knew nothing about nursing programs, companies, or work environments. But after this week, I am much more educated and realize there are a plethora of resources to help people like me who feel confused or do not know where to look. If more websites existed offering resources, then I'm sure more students would be educated and not be so timid to pursue nursing as their occupation in college.
